The Peabody Education Foundation will once again be joining the #GivingTuesday movement, which takes place on November 29, 2022. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 to encourage people to do good. Since then, millions of organizations across the globe come together to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during GivingTuesday, from volunteering to sharing a skill or making a donation to a local organization. If you are looking to get involved with GivingTuesday, please consider making a donation to our foundation!

Since 1985, we’ve worked endlessly to raise funds for our Peabody public schools and help enhance the quality of our students’ education. Our signature program, PEF Grants, provides our teachers and faculty with additional resources, field trips, and educational courses that could not be funded due to budget constraints.

Check out the video below of recent PEF grants that we were able to fund through the generosity of our donors and community!
Your donation will not only help fund our PEF Grants program, but will also help fund our other great programs & initiatives:

Birthday Book Program

Many children from within our city come from homes where books are not readily available. The Birthday Book Program hopes to foster a love of reading and books, promote family time together and help families to realize the importance of having books in the home.

Mental Wellness Initiative

In collaboration with Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, North Shore Bank, the JB Thomas-Lahey Foundation, the GraVoc Charitable Foundation, and NSCAP, the Peabody Education Foundation will be providing reading materials, motivational speakers, and other resources to help our schools deal with the mental health issues that have escalated during the past two years due to COVID, as well as those issues that continue to challenge our schools every day.

Guest Reader Program

The Guest Reader program is for students in kindergarten through grade 5. Every year, from January through late May, business leaders, city officials, and local citizens spend 20 to 30 minutes per week in an elementary school classroom reading to the children.

Cara E. Murtagh Memorial Scholarship

The Cara E. Murtagh Memorial Scholarship is provided by our foundation as way to honor our dear friend Cara’s memory. On a yearly basis, we will be awarding a PVMHS senior with a $2,500 scholarship to help with their college education.
