Kids Voting

During Presidential elections, we sponsor Kids Voting – a nationally organized program that teaches students about the election process. Through classroom curriculum, students at all grade levels learn about our government, the state and/or national elections and the current candidates, and everyone’s right to vote.

On Election Day, students accompany their parents to their local polls where they “vote” with special ballots. The students’ results are later tallied and the outcome is announced in the schools. The votes cast by children at the polls on November 8 will also be announced on PAT-Channel 8.  Students learn the process of voting and the importance of being “counted” in an election.

The PEF is introducing a digital dimension to the Kids Voting program this year.  In addition to the annual event at the polls, students in Grades 1 to 5 will have the opportunity to explore videos about the election process and cast an unofficial, Peabody ballot.
