About Peabody Education Foundation
Founded in 1985 by a group of community members, business leaders, and educators seeking to enhance the quality of Peabody public education, the Peabody Education Foundation (formerly the Peabody Education Council) integrates resources from all facets of the community into the city’s schools.
The Peabody Education Foundation provides unique programs and advanced technology to thousands of students who might otherwise not enjoy such experiences due to budget constraints. Our programs are intended to benefit and guide children as they develop into successful citizens and leaders. With the support of the community, we are able to continue offering programs to encourage creativity and inspiration in Peabody’s students.

In 2017, Warren Waugh of Lyon-Waugh Auto Group pledged a multi-year commitment to our foundation. Since then, we have used this donation to help fund hundreds of programs that otherwise would not have been funded. We put together a thank you video for Warren and the team at Lyon-Waugh Auto Group to show exactly how their funds were used and to show our appreciation. On September 14th, 2021, we were shocked with excitement as Warren recommitted to another multi-year donation for our foundation! From all of us at the Peabody Education Foundation, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Warren Waugh and the entire team at Lyon-Waugh Auto Group for their continued support for our teachers and students!
Having a community supporter like Lyon-Waugh Auto Group has allowed us to continue our mission of enhancing the quality of education within Peabody. We hope to continue our mission for as long as we can! Bringing Innovation to the Classroom Through PEF Grants
Teachers are the creative resource who help our children learn the life skills they need to thrive in our world. What happens, however, when a teacher has a great idea to bring to the classroom, but there is just no money to pay for it? Before the Peabody Education Foundation (PEF) was established, those great ideas would never see the light of day. Since 1985 the PEF has made sure that those great ideas to improve our instructional programs are funded through a program we appropriately named ‘PEF Grants’
Each year our classroom teachers apply for educational resource grants to the PEF, hoping to bring innovation and new ideas to the classroom. Since its inception, this program has impacted literally tens of thousands of students across our city from kindergarten to grade 12. With PEF Grants, a teacher never has to wonder – What if? – rather they get a chance to see the results of their creative ideas in the eyes of their students.
